Mojave voters approved in November 2008 the Mojave Unified School District School Facilities Improvement District No. 2 Measure G, a $14 million school bond. Proceeds from the sale of these school bonds may only be used for the construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, or replacement of school facilities, including the furnishing and equipping of school facilities, or the acquisition or lease of real property for school facilities. As required by law, the District has listed the specific projects to be funded, in whole or in part, by the bonds. The list of projects is below. Approval of the bond measure does not guarantee that the listed projects will be fully funded.
Mojave Elementary School:
- Modernize School Facilities
- Improve fire alarm systems
- Improve plumbing systems
- Expand access to modern technology
- Modernize Backus Gymnasium for joint use purposes
Mojave High School:
- Update and improve vocational education facilities for joint use purposes
- Improve student support facilities
Additional Projects:
- Furnish and equip Mojave schools
- Address unforeseen conditions revealed by construction/modernization (e.g. plumbing or gas line breaks, dry rot, seismic structural, etc.) in Mojave schools
- Perform necessary site preparation/restoration in connection with new construction, modernization, renovation or remodeling in Mojave schools
Historical Information
Historical information regarding Measure G. In 2009, the district negotiated a lease-leaseback agreement with Seward L. Schreder Construction, Inc. for modernization projects at Mojave Elementary School and Mojave High School. No committee meetings were held before June 30, 2009. The first organizational meeting was held November 4, 2009 and a second meeting was held April 13, 2010.
Mojave Elementary School Modernization Projects were, building 400 classrooms and auditorium, building 500 classroom and restroom, building 600 office workroom and building 700 the library, classroom/restroom. The project was completed in 2011.
Mojave High School Modernization Projects were building 800, building 900, building 1000 and Backus gym. The project was completed in 2012.

Committee
State law requires that the formation of a Citizens Bond Oversight Committee to ensure that bond funds are properly used. This committee is looking for applicants. Current member must include:
- Representative for Business Organization
- Representative for Senior Citizens’ Group
- Representative for Tax Payers’ Association
- Representative for Parent/Guardian
- Representative for Parent/Guardian part of parent-teacher association/club or school site council
- Representative for Community Member
- Representative for Community Member
All Committee proceedings shall be open to the public and shall be subject to the provisions of the Ralph M. Brown Act. All documents received by the Committee and reports issued by the Committee shall be a matter of public record and be made available on an Internet website maintained by the governing body of the school district (Education Code 15280(b))
The next upcoming meeting is scheduled for TBD at TBD. The meeting will be held at Mojave Unified School District Office at 3200 Pat Avenue, Mojave CA 93501. All minutes of Committee meetings will be made available on this website upon adoption.
